Figurative

Figurative sculpture and diorama work. Scale ranging from miniature to life-size.

“Triptych” | 2021 | My early work consisted of life-scale and miniature figurative sculpture and diorama. The body is something I used like a language, and a tool of surrealism. Capturing an accurate figure is something that came naturally and pleasurably to me, and I will likely continue to work with it for the rest of my career. The following installation was comprised of three dioramas mounted behind a wall. Each figure within stands 6-8” tall. I sculpt these miniatures in oil-clay, then take molds of them in silicone, cast them in urethane resin, and paint them using an airbrush. Additional materials include plaster, human hair, UV adhesive, camera lenses, LEDs, and duvetyne.

Assorted Figures, Casts, and Molds | 2018-21 | The following images document my miniature and life-scale figurative sculpture work. Some images show the raw clay, some the molding process, and some the cast in various substrates. Plasticine, silicone, plaster, paper, tape, papier-mache, urethane.
